Cheap Trick, formed in Rockford, Illinois in 1973, is one of the most successful live bands of all time. Their sophomore record, 1977’s In Color, found them success in Japan, yet they had still failed to catch on in the US. The band saw its big breakthrough with the release of their first live album, Cheap Trick at Budokan, in 1978. This album allowed the group to showcase the power and frenzy in their live show, something their studio recordings could never quite encompass. Known for hit singles such as “Surrender” and “I Want You to Want Me,” Cheap Trick has toured consistently over their career, playing over 5000 shows all culminating in a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction in 2016.
