Rancid, a ska-punk band with a widespread popular appeal, emerged from the same storied Gilman Street scene in Berkeley, CA that Green Day did. Along with southern California’s Offspring, they helped the 1990s wave of American punk rock become mainstream. By 1995, they saw the release of their third album, And Out Come the Wolves, go gold. Their singles from the CD. “Ruby Soho,” “Time Bomb,” and “Roots Radicals” made the Billboard charts. Their later albums, including Indestructible, which charted at No. 8, sold fairly well. They have retained a strong fan base and are still touring and making records in the second decade of the 21st century.
